He was born in Mapleton, Minn. to Louis R. and Eugenia Putz Jan. 29, 1944; one of nine children born to them. The family moved to Cambridge, Minn. in 1949 where he has resided on the family farm most of his life. He attended Cambridge High School and went on to pursue a career in auto body repair. His passion was restoring classic cars, fishing, camping and hunting.
He was also one of the original members of the Snow Barons Snowmobile Club and was a past member on the Cambridge Board of Zone.
Dwayne was preceded in death by his parents Louis and Eugenia Putz, brother Raymond Putz and brother-in-law Richard McLaughlin.
He is survived by his loving wife, Judy; son Tony (Jodi) Putz, Cambridge, Minn.; son David Putz of St. Cloud, Minn., daughter DeAnna (Jeffrey) Strombeck, Stanchfield, Minn. and stepson Anthony (Julie) Aughinbaugh, Smithsburg, M.D.; grandchildren Jared and Ashleigh Putz, JeAnna and Cordell Strombeck and Lindsey and Mason Aughinbaugh. He is also survived by his brother Eugene Sonny (Rita) Putz, Jacksonville, N.C.; brother Robert (Delores) Putz, Dalbo, Minn.; sister Laurel (Wally) Evenson, Cambridge, Minn.; sister Darlene McLaughlin, Scottsdale, Ariz.; brother Dale (Diane) Putz, St. Francis, Minn.; Karen (Glenn) Ward, Ogilvie, Minn.; sister, Linda Cartwright, Milaca, Minn. and sister-in-law Marilyn Putz of Harris, Minn. as well as his best fishing buddy Dave Cartwright and many nieces, nephews and friends. He will be missed deeply.
A celebration of life was held at the Minnco Center in Cambridge on September 21, 2013 .
