Carol Lindstrom

Beloved Mother & Grandmother
Carol B. Lindstrom, of Cambridge, formerly of Braham, passed away on Tuesday, May 27, 2014 at GracePointe Crossing East Gables in Cambridge. She was 91 years old.
Carol Barbara was born to Ross and Alma (Lanes) Brinkman on January 15, 1923 in their farm home near Wannaska, Minnesota. Carol was the second of three children in their family. The family attended Riverside Lutheran Church in Wannaska where Carol was baptized and confirmed. She graduated from Roseau High School in 1940. She enjoyed her youth. Her favorite memories of her childhood were of staying overnight with friends and having friends stay overnight with her.
After High School, Carol moved to Osakis to work at Herbergers while living with and helping her step-grandmother. At Herbergers, she became acquainted with Gladys, Wilburs sister. Gladys invited Carol out to the Lindstrom home for Sunday dinner and it was then that Carol met Wilbur. That was the beginning of a long-lasting relationship. They were united in marriage on October 18, 1945 at the Riverside Lutheran Church in Wannaska. Because of a bad snowstorm the evening of their wedding, Wilbur and Carol spent their wedding night at Carols sisters home near Wannaska.
After they were married, they rented and lived on the Baker farm in Osakis. In 1947, first Darrell and later Judith were born. In 1951, they moved to a farm just north of Day, Minnesota where they worked for Lloyd and Stella Lind until they were able to buy a 40 acre farm of their own in about 1953, 1.5 miles south of Day. They farmed until 1971 when they moved to Coin, Minnesota. After Wilbur died in 1999, Carol moved to Park Manor in Braham and in 2009, moved into Elmhurst Commons to receive assisted living. In 2012 she made a final move to GracePointe Crossing long term care in Cambridge.
Carol was an active, long-time member of Lewis Lake Covenant Church and she considered the church her family. She also was a long-time member of WCTU and worked with LTL at church for many years.
Carol and Wilbur generously shared their home with many foster children and in later years, with elderly and the disabled. She was also a foster grandparent at the Braham Elementary School.
Carol is preceded in death by her parents, husband, sister Pearl Loe, and sister-in-law Dorothy Brinkman.
She is survived by her son, Darrell (Lois) Lindstrom; daughter, Judith (David) Nelson; 8 grandchildren, Darrin (Shannon) Lindstrom, Mark (Kate) Lindstrom, Robert (Angela) Lindstrom, Paul Lindstrom, Haley (Don) Sauve, Melissa (Scott) Steinberg, Jarrod (Heather) Nelson, and Jayme (Kari) Nelson; 26 great-grandchildren; brother, Robert Brinkman; brother-in-law, Gilbert Loe; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Funeral service held Saturday, May 31, 2014 at the Lewis Lake Covenant Church with Rev. Bob DeYoung officiating. Music provided by Steve and Mary Hoffner. Casket Bearers will be Carols grandchildren. Interment will be in the Lewis Lake Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Arrangements are by the Rock Ingebrand Funeral Home of Braham. Condolences may be posted at www.aifuneralhome.com
