Lois R. Monson, 89, died Wednesday, May 28, 2014, at GracePointe Crossing in Cambridge, MN. Funeral services Friday, June 6 at 12:30 p.m. at the Evangelical Covenant Church in Bemidji.
Lois was born December 27, 1924 to Alta and Oscar Lindstrom near Guthrie, MN. She attended school in Guthrie through 8th grade, then attended and graduated from Bemidji High School. She married Herbert Monson July 3, 1945 at her parents home near Guthrie and lived in the Bemidji area until 2006 when she moved to Cambridge. Lois was a talented seamstress, sewing most of her daughters clothes, including wedding and bridesmaids dresses. She had a great love for children and Lois and Herb served as foster parents for 27 years. Lois also worked with young children as a Foster Grandparent for several years. She was an active member of the Evangelical Covenant Church.
Lois is survived by five daughters, Gwen Monson of Edmonds, WA., Mary Lynn (Clay) Oglesbee of Northfield, Gail (Ray) of Rugby, ND., Sherry of Cambridge, and Carol (Tim) Olson of San Francisco, CA; two sons, Patrick Newell of North Branch, and Reagan Morgan of Cass Lake; eight grandchildren, Matthew Monson, Colin and Nathan Oglesbee, Jeremy (Bobbi) Rham, Evan Rham, Serein (Mike) Tomlinson, Zoe and Ruby Olson; two great grandchildren, Cleo Egli and Landry Rham; two sisters Elsie Aldrich of Fort Collins, CO., and Iris Gustafson of Duluth.
She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, 3 brothers, Orville, Waldo, and Cyril; 4 sisters, Olga Watkins, Iva Quinsland, Ermal Klapperich, and Muriel Lindstrom.
The family prefers memorials to the Alzheimers Association or Presbyterian Homes GracePointe Crossing West. The Carlson-Lillemoen Funeral Home is handling the local arrangements.
