Lillian A. Johnson

ob_JohnsonLillian Anna Adeline Johnson, 88, of Cambridge, formerly of Stanchfield, passed away Tuesday, May 7, 2013 at GracePointe Crossing Gables East.

She was born Oct. 10, 1924 in Minneapolis, to John and Anna (Turnquist) Westlund. Lillian grew up in Minneapolis, was baptized and confirmed at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church. She graduated from Minneapolis Central High School and went on to work various jobs including for Prudential.

On March 15, 1952 she was united in marriage to Wallace Johnson at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Minneapolis. They resided on a farm in Springvale Township where Wallace operated a dairy farm along with his brother Ellsworth. Wallace and Lillian raised their three children on the farm where he continued farming until 1988 when he retired. Wallace passed away in 1990 and Lillian remained on the farm until 2004 when she moved to Mille Ridge Commons. After two years she became a resident of Grandview Christian Home and more recently GracePointe Crossing Gables East.

Lillian was a longtime member of Salem Lutheran Church in Dalbo where she was active in the Naomi Unit Ladies Group. She enjoyed spending time in her vegetable and flower gardens, canning, baking and also took several trips with Wallace to Canada to visit their son Les. Lillian always had a quick wit, something that remained with her up until the end.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Wallace, sister Tora Berg, brother Richard Westlund, sisters-in-law Millie Westlund, Jeanette Johnson and Eunice Borgstrom, brothers-in-law Ed Berg and George Borgstrom.

Lillian is survived by her son Les and wife Dawn Johnson of Wilson, Wis., daughters Vicki Johnson of Stanchfield, Connie and husband Chris Boraas of Alexandria, 11 grandchildren Matthew (Lisa) Johnson, Mark (Jodi) Johnson, Rachel (Jordan) Rumohr, Michael (Nicki) Johnson, Jenn Scott, Jon (Kristina) Peterson, Cyndi Peterson, Chuck Peterson, David, Sarah and Megan Boraas, eight great grandchildren Carson Scott, Naomi, Andrew, Jacob, Alyssa, Nathan, Nolan and Micah Johnson, brothers-in-law Ellsworth and wife Julie Johnson of Cambridge, Wendell and wife Laurel Johnson of Cambridge, as well as numerous nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.

Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, May 11, 2013 at the Salem Lutheran Church of Dalbo with Rev. William Pearson officiating. Mark Johnson will sing, “Beyond the Sunset.” Rev. Wendell and Laurel Johnson will sing, “Whispering Hope” accompanied by Roberta Erickson.  Congregational Hymns “Children of the Heavenly Father” and “I Know that my Redeemer Lives,” will also be performed. Pallbearers will be Matthew, Mark and Michael Johnson, Jon and Chuck Peterson, and David Boraas. Honorary pallbearers will be Rachel Rumohr, Jenn Scott, Cyndi Peterson, Sarah and Megan Boraas. Interment is at the Salem Lutheran Cemetery. Arrangements were with the Carlson-Lillemoen Funeral Home and Cremation Services of Cambridge.
