Her love, friendship, and brilliant smile were a gift she gave freely, whether you had known her for a lifetime or for a moment.
Nancy Elizabeth (Glass) Fetzek was born in San Rafael, California on September 11th, 1952 and died in Springvale Township, Minnesota on August 7th, 2015. She met the love of her life, Peter Donald Fetzek, in Minneapolis in 1971. They were married on June 21st, 1975 in Henriette, MN and raised their five above-average children outside of Cambridge, MN. A legendary cook, she loved hosting friends and family at their idyllic home. Nancy drove bus for the Cambridge-Isanti school district for 15 years, and treated her passengers like family.
Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia captivated Nancys heart during a 25th wedding anniversary trip. She and Peter bought a place in the Margaree Valley, their 'other home to spend summers and eventually retire to.
Nancy was diagnosed with glioblastoma brain cancer in 2013. She fought cancer with the same grace and courage that she brought to all aspects of her life. Her determination to live allowed her to meet two new granddaughters and dance with her eldest son at his wedding. The treatments eradicated the tumors but impacted her immune system, and Nancy passed away at home, surrounded by her family, after a brief bout of acute pneumonia.
Nancy was preceded in death by her mother, Glenna Marie (Hatfield) Wider, and her father, Wilfred James Glass.
She is survived by her loving husband of 40 years, Peter Fetzek, and their children and grandchildren; Sarah (Christopher) Tabor of Bozeman, MT and their children Ian and Cora, Shiloh (Christian Hunt) Fetzek of Minneapolis, MN, Gabriel (Andrea) Fetzek of Brooklyn Park, MN, Jesse Fetzek of Bozeman, MT, and Jonathan (Rebecca) Fetzek of Saint Paul, MN and their children Lillian and Dahlia. In addition; her brother and three sisters, nieces and nephews, cousins, and a lifetime of wonderful friends.
She was laid to rest in a private ceremony at Henriette Cemetery. A memorial to celebrate Nancys life will be held at the Fetzek home in Springvale on September 26th, 2015 with details to follow.
