Jacqueline Joyce Nelson
Jacqueline Joyce Nelson, 72, of Mora, Minn., passed away August 28, 2013 at home.
Jackie was born at her grandmothers house in Henriette, Minn. on June 5, 1941 to Anton and Leona (Bjorklund) Peterson. She grew up on a farm in Quamba, Minn. and was the oldest of 3 siblings. Jackie attended school in Quamba and graduated from Mora High School in 1959. She also attended Pine Tech Vocational School for training to become a Home Health Aide.
Jackie met LeRoy Nelson in Minneapolis in 1959. They were married Oct. 22, 1960 at Quamba Baptist Church. Three children were born to this union. LeRoy and Jackie lived in the Twin Cities for a few years before moving to the Mora area.
As a teenager, Jackie worked at Quamba Hardware. She also worked at Telex hearing Aid Company in Minneapolis and as a Home Health Aide and sold Avon products. She was also employed at Sportsmans Cafe; in Mora for 16 years.
Jackies hobbies were collecting blue glass and antiques, gardening and flowers. She even bought her own herd of milk cows. Jackie loved road trips, camping and going to meet friends at a restaurant. She loved family get togethers. Jackie was always willing to help somebody out. She was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother. She will be truly missed by all who knew and loved her.
It was Jackies wish, to pay a special tribute at the time of her death to her beloved Mora High School Class of 1959 and to her friend and best boss ever, Sue Schmidt. These special people were very near and dear to Jackies heart.
Jackie was preceded in death by her parents, her son, Scott Nelson and great grandson, Bobby Reed.
She is survived by her husband, LeRoy of Mora; daughter, Tammi (Robert) Johnson of Mora; son, Shawn (Michelle) Nelson of Mora; daughter-in-law, Delayne Nelson of Mora; grandchildren, Tanya, LeRoy, Tommy, Dusty, Zach, Sarah, Seth, Nicole, Dylan, McKayla, Mason and Nathan; great-grandchildren, Addison, Landyn, SkyLee, Avery, Alysa, Christopher, Emelia, Aidan, Emily, and Xavier. Many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends also survive.
Funeral service was held Sept. 7 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Brunswick with Rev. Lori Blake officiating. Music was provided by Nancy Kastel-Avre. Pallbearers were Dustin Nelson, Zach Nelson, Seth Nelson, LeRoy Haugen, Tanya Reed and Sarah Lang. Inurnment was at Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery. Arrangements were handled by Akkerman-Ingebrand Funeral Home.
