John Klobucar passed away on June 12, 2016 at Abbott Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis at the age of 89 years.
He was born on July 28, 1926 at Carson Lake, Minnesota to Anton and Ann Klobuchar. At the age of 17, he enlisted in the Army in WWII and served with the 14th Armored Division (Liberators) in Germany when he was injured and received the Purple Heart just a few days before the end of the war. After returning from the service, he finished his high school education at Hibbing High School and left for California, where he worked as a land surveyor. While there, he met his future wife, LaVerne Olson from Dalbo, Minnesota. They were married July 12, 1953 and later moved back to Minnesota. They lived in Osseo and he continued working as a land surveyor. They had two daughters and lived in Osseo until 2008 when they moved to the Cambridge area.
John was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Walter and Victor.
He is survived by his wife, LaVerne; daughters, Colleen Klobucar and Kathy (Tim) Lijewski; granddaughters, Danielle (Mohammed) Aldawood, Nikki Andrews; great-grandsons, Cayden Felder, Caleb Morris; nieces, Debbie (Dan) Oldes, Angelique (Robert) Bull; cousins and many friends.
Memorial services were held Friday, June 17, 2016 at Strike Funeral Home – Cambridge Chapel. Interment was in Salem Lutheran Cemetery in Dalbo. Online condolences at StrikeFuneral.com.
