
Elmer C. Roos, 85 of Paynesville, died August 4, 2016 at the St. Cloud Hospital.
His funeral was held 10 a.m. Tuesday, August 9, 2016 at St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Eden Valley. Visitation was Monday from 5- 8 p.m. at the church and for one hour prior to the service. Burial in the Grace East Cemetery in Belgrade.
Arrangements are with the Johnson Funeral Home in Paynesville.
Elmer Cornelius Roos was born on February 17, 1931 in Georgeville, the son of Neal and Jennie (Sikking) Roos. He grew up in the Georgeville and Belgrade area, where he attended the Shipstead Grade school and Belgrade High School.
On December 8, 1950, he entered the United States Army where he served his country during the Korean War. He was honorably discharged on November 20, 1953. On October 1, 1955, Elmer was united in marriage to Glenna Hedtke. To this union four sons were born. They made their home in Isanti where he worked as a plumber. They moved to Paynesville in 1986 in retirement and wintered in Arizona.
Elmer was a member of St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, the Paynesville American Legion and Belgrade VFW. He enjoyed golfing, woodworking and spending time outdoors.
Elmer is survived by his wife of 60 years, Glenna; sons, Steven (Denise) Roos, Michael (Merri) Roos, John (Ena) Roos and Jim (Leslie) Roos; grandchildren, Kelly Hendrickson, Heather Blumberg, Christopher Roos, Eric Roos, Jamie Wampach, Nicholas Roos and Robert Roos; step-grandchildren, Ashley and Mitchell Peck; four great-grandchildren and siblings, Louise Stewart, Henry (Florence) Roos and Buddy (Mary Ann) Roos.
He was preceded in death by his parents; great-grandson, Mason John Blumberg and siblings, Anna, Jennett, Emma, Marion, Katherine, Alice and Bill.
