Sandra Lee Martin was born November 6, 1945 in Stanchfield, Isanti County, Minnesota, the second daughter of George and June Anderson of Athens Township. She entered the world as a little blonde bombshell, and remained so, until the moment she left this world.
She grew up on her parents farm in Athens Township until they moved to Carmody, Minnesota. She attended first grade in a small one room country school house. The family then moved ot a farm near Crown, Minnesota and Dandee went to St. Francis Schools, graduating the class of 1963 from St. Francis. After high school she attended Beauty College in Minneapolis. Sandee worked in the field for many years both in California and Minnesota. She owned her own shops for many years.
On March 5, 1966 she married Ordell Dreessen from Pipestone, Minnesota. Two children were born in this union. Stacey Renee in 1968 and Kevin Cleve in 1971. They divorced in November of 1972. In 1973 Sandee married Michael Martin and one child was born of this union, Jeffrey Michael in 1975. They divorced in May 1981. In 1990 Sandee married Donald Sorenson, no children were born of this union. They divorced in 1994. in 2010 Sandee married Richard "Lance" Landborg. They reside in East Bethel, Minnesota. Sandee was also a real estate agent and worked for the City Hall.
Sandee died July 23, 2015 unexpectedly at her home at the age of 69 years. She was preceded in death by her father, George Anderson; and brother, Cleve Anderson.

Karen J. Bocklund, 73, of Cambridge passed away on Wednesday, October 7, 2015 at Abbott-Northwestern Hospital.

Karen enjoyed snowmobiling, fishing, gardening, candy making, cake decorating, canning, ceramics, doing volunteer work, and especially spending time with her grandchildren. She had been a member of the Sunnyside Free Church, North Isanti Baptist Church and had more recently been attending the Fish Lake Lutheran Church. Karen was also a member of Christian Women’s Group and volunteered at The Shalom Shop.
She was preceded in death by her parents Edith and Archie Olson; daughter Brandie Olson; husband Ken; sisters Arala Linder, Betty Hord, Yvonne Olson; brothers Albert, Frederick and Everett Olson.
Karen is survived by her children Kevin Bocklund, Kyle (Julie) Bocklund, Patty Olson; grandchildren Jon, Joe, Josh, Scott and Jessica; great-grandsons Caleb and Tyler; brother Archie Jr. (Deanna) Olson; as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

John J. Lind
John was preceded in death by his parents Axel and Lola Lind, brother David and sister Lorraine Balthazor.
He is survived by his wife Terry and daughters Heidi (Tyrone) Bell of Princeton and Nikola (James) Socha of Homer Alaska. Also survived by eight grandchildren.
John worked as a school custodian for ISD 15 for 30 years so he was free to do guest preaching, teach Bible classes at a Christian school, and teach new believer courses. After retirement his love of gardening, canning, cooking, reading and fishing filled his days. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
Services were held Saturday, October 17, 2 p.m. at the Bethel Community Church, Bethel, MN.

Marilyn Jean Dahlquist

Marilyn Jean Dahlquist was born December 4, 1950. She passed unexpectedly, but peacefully in her sleep on October 4, 2015.
Marilyn grew up and lived in the Cambridge area all of her life. She attended grade school and high school in Cambridge. She attended college at Bemidji State and University of Minnesota, Duluth. She lived and cared for her aging mother for many years. Marilyn worked for many years at the Perkins restaurant in Forest Lake. She was employed at Storchak Cleaners as well as the Senior Dining Center in Isanti at the time of her death. She was an active volunteer in her community where she was loved and is survived by many friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John Albert and Lillian Adelaide Dahlquist; brothers Robert (Barbara) and Gerald (Elaine). She is survived by her brother John (Mary) of Palo Alto, CA and her sister Joyce Bogenholm of Roseville, MN, Uncle Carl Dahlquist, cousins, nieces, nephews, and many many friends.
A Celebration of Life will take place on Friday October 23, 2015 at 1pm at the Isanti Community Center with internment at Grasston Union Cemetery on Saturday, October 24, 2015 at 1:30pm.
Viola Young

Viola Young, age 94, of Cambridge died October 15, 2015 at GracePointe Crossing Gables East.
Viola Young was born February 3, 1921 in Mpls, MN to Clifford and Rena (Rydeen) Olson.She grew up in Blomford, MN where she attended grade school. On April 15, 1939 she married Ward Young (the boy next door) and they made their home in Cambridge.
Viola worked as a waitress, grocery store clerk, drug store clerk, clinic receptionist, and certified dental assistant. In 1968 she went to work for Marlton Realty and later on Moline Realty. She retired in 1996. Viola was a very special and classy lady who gave her all to her family, her work and her community.
Viola was President of Eastern Minnesota Board of Realtors and was recipient of Realtor of the Year Award both in 1980 and again in 1991. She was a member of Minnesota Board of Realtors and The National Association of Realtors. Viola also was a member of the Cambridge Chamber of Commerce serving as Treasurer for four years. She also was a member of the Cambridge Lutheran Church Council and the Building Committee for the Fellowship Hall, Cambridge Women’s Club, Coordinator for Riverwood Village and Bridge Park Apts and served as President of the Memorial Hospital Auxiliary and many other community activities.
She is survived by her son, Jim (Jeanie) Young of Cambridge; sister, Ruthie (Bill) Falk of Isanti; six grandchildren, Sharon (Jeff) Johnson, Mike (Jean) Carlson, Jamie (Pam) Carlson, Laura (Scott) Lerner, Teri (Dave) Kalthoff, and David (Kari) Young; 12 great-grandchildren, Angela (Brian) Saldana, Katelyn Johnson, Kate Lerner, Jonah Carlson, Evan Kalthoff, Valerie Carlson, Lindsey Young, Ryan Lerner, Abby Kalthoff, Sydney Young, Abe Kalthoff, and Wyatt Carlson; sister-in-law, Faye Olson of Isanti, and by many other relatives and friends.
Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Ward in 1993; two daughters, Shelby Jean Carlson and Suzie Carlson; brother, Floyd Olson; and granddaughter, Ronda Carlson.

Dr. Francis Spearing Ryan


Francis Spearing Ryan, age 90, of Cambridge, died peacefully on October 13, 2015 at Cambridge Allina Hospital.
Francis was born in St. Paul, one of eight children. He graduated from St. Thomas Academy in 1943 and was then drafted for Army duty during World War II, earning the Purple Heart for his efforts during the Pacific Ocean theater. He then graduated from St. Thomas College in St. Paul and Marquette University School of Dentistry in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, then returning to St. Paul to start his dental career. He met and married his beloved Maureen in 1967, moving to Cambridge soon afterward to start a family while establishing his own dental practice in nearby Isanti.
Francis enjoyed a variety of activities, such as learning Spanish, do-it-yourself home renovation, riding his motorcycle, and especially hunting and fishing in Minnesota, the Dakotas, Montana and Canada.
As a practicing dentist with 50+ years of experience, he leaves behind a legacy of gentle dental care and excellent dentistry among many patients, including multi-generational families as well as people from nearby states and even Alaska.
He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Maureen Ryan; his children, Catherine (Terrence) Hugar, John Ryan, and Rachel Ryan; and grandchildren Joseph and Grace Hugar.

Robert G. Manke


Robert George Manke, age 74, of Cambridge, died on October 15, 2015 at his home on Spectacle Lake.
Bob was born in Princeton, Minnesota on March 12, 1941, the only son of George and Freda Manke. His life was marked by two great loves: his wonderful family and Spectacle Lake, where he grew up and lived most of his life.
Bob attended grade school at the Pine Brook Schoolhouse and then graduated from Cambridge High School in 1959. He attended St. Cloud State and graduated with a teacher’s degree in 1964.
On May 25, 1963, Bob married Carol Chalstrom of Dalbo, Minnesota. They resided in Minneapolis where he worked for Phillips 66 Petroleum Company as a sales representative and they had their first son, Jeff. Bob and Carol moved to Grand Forks, North Dakota, where Bob became a district manager for Phillips 66. While in Grand Forks, they had their second son, Shawn.
In 1969, the family moved from Grand Forks to their present location on Spectacle Lake, where they took over running Manke’s Resort from Bob’s parents. During this time, Bob worked for International Harvester as a sales representative; and then, in 1976, he became a district manager for Melroe Bobcat. In 1979, Bobcat recognized him as Man of the Year for the Melroe Division, and in 1991, he was honored again by Melroe as Advertising Man of the Year for outstanding performance in coordinating advertising programs among Bobcat dealers. He retired from Melroe after 23 years of service in 2000.
Throughout his life he was an avid sportsman and fisherman, enjoying hunting and fishing trips. Bob and Carol also traveled extensively through the United States, Mexico, and Europe with family and friends.
Manke’s Resort was a well-known destination for decades. Bob and Carol made many lifelong friends while running the resort with their family. Bob was a caring man who had a special place in his heart for the kids that helped at the resort and his grandchildren who learned how to socialize and contribute to the family business.
Bob is survived by son Jeff and his wife Shelly, son Shawn and his wife Mary, grandchildren Sam, Kalie, Sydney, and Lucas and many, many friends.
He was so proud of them and their many accomplishments. He will remain in their memories forever.
Bob was preceded in death by his loving wife Carol, and his parents George and Freda Manke.

Merrill R. Claypool
Merrill Ralph Claypool, age 97, of Braham, MN, died on Monday, October 19, 2015 at his home.
Merrill was born at home on March 20, 1918 in rural Underwood, MN to Clinton Wayne an Annie (Dess) Claypool. He attended country school until 1934 when the death of this mother during the depression, ended his schooling at the age of 16. He worked at what jobs he could, until being called to serve in the Army Air Corp in Bakersfield, CA. He was sent to Europe towards the end of WWII. After his discharge in 1946, he attended Wahpeton, ND technical school and studied auto mechanics along with his brother Dan. After completion, they both returned home to Underwood and opened their own garage. It was during this period that Merrill met Ramona Martinson. They were married on April 2, 1949. They began a family while living in the Underwood area until 1955. They then lived in various places until 1961 when they bought a home in Ham Lake. Merrill worked at International Harvester in Minneapolis and continued to work until his retirement in 1980. After his retirement, they bought an old house in rural Braham and restored it. Merrill was very involved in volunteer work; driving for Isanti County and SACs in Cambridge. Merrill took up bowling and it definitely gave him great pleasure. He continued to bowl until the spring of 2015, rarely missing a Friday.
Merrill was preceded in death by his parents, wife Ramona, brother Dan, an infant brother and granddaughter Bonnie Wallace.
He is survived by his sons Don (Laurie) of Itasca, IL, Doug (Lislie) of Coon Rapids, Dick (Linda) of Bemidji, daughter Diane (Mike) Wallace of Braham, 10 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, brother Norman (Vivian) of Bemidji, sister Charlotte DeFrance of New Ulm, brother-in-law Harlow (Betty) Martinson of WA, sister-in-law Olive Marolt of TX, many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Curtis J. Erickson

Curtis J. Erickson, 63, of North Branch passed away on Monday, October 19, 2015 at his home.
He was born on November 17, 1951 in Princeton, Minnesota to Leif and Delores (Lindell) Erickson. He grew up in the Harris area and graduated from Cambridge High School in 1969. He worked for a time at Peterson’s Feed Mill in North Branch and after high school he began working at Sewall Gear Manufacturing and remained there for over 40 years. When Sewall Gear closed, Curtis started his company C & M Gear Company and ran that for the past seven years at his own shop at home.
He was united in marriage to Mary Lindgren on October 9, 1976 at the Cambridge Lutheran Church and they raised their three children.
Curtis served in the Army Reserves for six years and was honorably discharged.
He enjoyed working on his tractors, his motorcycle and going on summer rides with Mary.
He was preceded in death by his father Leif in September 2013, father-in-law Axel Lindgren and brother-in-law Bruce Lindgren.
Curtis is survived by his wife Mary of North Branch, children Melinda Erickson of Pearl Harbor, HI, Jesse Erickson of Isanti, Jordan Erickson of North Branch, Hope Carlson of Hinckley, grandson Slade Carlson, mother Delores Erickson of Cambridge, six sisters, three brothers, and many nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.

Shannon S. Foote Sr.

Shannon S. Foote Sr. “Grandpa Shan”, age 79, of Stanchfield passed away on Saturday, October 24, 2015 at Fairview Lakes Medical Center in Wyoming surrounded by his family.
He was born November 20, 1935 in Cambridge, MN to Bennett and Irene (Torell) Foote Sr. Shannon grew up in the Cambridge area, attending the Moody School and graduating from Cambridge High School in 1953.
In 1956 he was united in marriage to the love of his life, Patricia Benson in Robbinsdale and they made their home in Coon Rapids for a short time. They would build their first home on East Rush Lake and in 1966 Shannon would build their second home on West Rush Lake where he and Patty would raise their family and he was currently living there.
Shannon worked for many years as a brick layer and in concrete work. In the 1970’s Shannon and his brother, Bud, started Foote Construction. They also, along with his dad, Bennett opened Alpine Sports Center near Braham. Shannon retired about 10 years ago.
Shannon enjoyed spending time sitting on the patio deck at their home with his faithful dog, Tina. Shannon loved his family deeply and loved spending time with them all. He especially had a soft spot for all of his grand-children. He was a member of the NRA, enjoyed reminiscing about the cars, boats and motorcycles he had collected. Shannon was famous for his jet boat rides on Rush Lake. Shannon had a wonderful wit and great sense of humor that will truly be missed by family and friends.
Shannon was preceded in death by an infant twin sister Sharon, his parents, brother Bennett “Bud”, and sister Beverly Barbo.
He is survived by his wife Patricia, children Kristy (Alan) Doberstein of Stanchfield, Jodie (Mark) Olson of Stanchfield, Vickie (Dave) Erickson of Dalbo, Shannon (Sarah) Foote Jr. of Stanchfield, Lisa (Matt) McCarron of Chisago City, 10 grandchildren; Leah, Ryan, Jesse, Keegan, Lindsay, Kyle, Kaylee, Samuel, Sonny, Ava, six great-grandchildren Tayler, Hayden, Logan, Taytum, Ryder, Hudsyn, sister Suzanne Anderson of Cambridge.

Ken L. Anderson


Ken Anderson, age 84, of Princeton, passed away on October 25, 2015 at his home.
Kenneth Lloyd Anderson was born in Springvale Township, Minnesota on July 19, 1931. He attended high school in Princeton and was drafted into the Army in 1953. Ken married Lois Kronberg in 1956 after returning from Korea.
He worked as a machinist until 1965 and then farmed in Wyanett Township until 1977 when he began a career in carpentry, retiring as a master carpenter in 1996. He continued to share his skills and talents with family and friends, the church, and Lake Beauty Bible Camp.
Ken enjoyed fishing and camping, served the church on various boards and was the caretaker of the Karmel Cemetery since he was a young adult.
Ken was preceded in death by his parents Eddie and Lilly Anderson, brothers Darold, Dean, Glen, Franklin, and Ron Anderson, sister Harriet Tonn and grandson Nicholas McChesney.
Ken is survived by his wife Lois Anderson, siblings Robert Anderson, Elaine Wicklund, Phyllis Johnson, Marvel Regehr, children Marlene (Kevin) White, Larry (RaNae) Anderson; six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, October 31, at Karmel Covenant Church, 5799 County 6 NW, Princeton, Minnesota. Beginning at 9:45 am there will be a time for family and friends to gather and reminisce in the church narthex. Beverly Jo (Cox) Soderberg, 76, of Isanti, went to be with her Lord on Thurs., Oct. 22nd, 2015. She was born in Fairmont, MN to Joe and Kathryn Cox.

Joyce was born on April 16, 1928 in Braham, MN to Arvid and Helen Anderson. She graduated from Braham High School and went to work for the Federated Co-op in Cambridge. After a short time there she took the same position with the Co-op in Mora. She met Arthur Beckman and the two had planned on being married in 1951. However, Art was called into the United States Marine Corps and they decided to postpone their wedding. While Art was away, Joyce went to live with her parents and began a new job at East Central Electric as a payroll clerk. She remained working there for 40 years, retiring in 1991. Art and Joyce were married on May 22, 1954.
During retirement Joyce and Art loved to travel. Her favorite two words were “Let’s Go!” They had been throughout the United States, Canada, and Europe.
She also enjoyed bowling, playing cards, and was a very good cook.
She was a long time member of Grace Lutheran Church in Mora and had taught Sunday School there, and was also a long time member of the American Legion Axillary.
Joyce is preceded in death by her brother, Lyle Anderson.
She is survived by her husband, Art Beckman of Mora; her brother, Lloyd (Eunice “Lee”) Anderson of Milaca; her sister, Jane Moyer of Braham; sister-in-law, Carol Anderson of St. Cloud; several nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
Funeral service 11 a.m. on Saturday, October 31, 2015 at Grace Lutheran Church in Mora with Rev. Douglas Larson officiating. Visitation Friday, October 30, 2015 from 6 until 8 p.m. at Dresser-Methven Funeral Home in Mora, as well as one hour prior to the service at the church.

Dallas Richard Blomquist, Sr.
June 2, 1923 – October 19, 2015
Dallas Richard Blomquist, Sr. was born to Carl Victor and Agnes (Mell) Blomquist on June 2, 1923 in Stanchfield, Minnesota.
Dallas entered the U.S. Marines in August 1942, serving in World War II. He left the service in 1945. For his bravery he was awarded the Purple Heart Medal of Honor. Some of Dallas’ war stories are as follows:
“I remember when the Higgin’s boat reached the shore of Peleliu in 1944. The front ramp wouldn’t fully go down. There were too many dead and dying Marines on the beach.”
“I spent 28 continuous days in a foxhole. We wore our clothes and boots all the time, night and day. We wouldn’t take them off even to go to the bathroom.”
“I was a rifleman when we got to Guadalcanal. I stumbled upon a dead Marine who had a Browning automatic rifle. I wanted the extra fire power, so I took it. I remained a BAR man the rest of my time in the war.”
Dallas married Darlene Graham March 4, 1950, making their home in Grandy, Minnesota for several years, later moving to Edgewood, Minnesota. Dallas worked for a number of years as a truck driver, hauling Ford cars and trucks before moving on to Larsen Cycle in Cambridge. The family moved to Piedmont, South Dakota in 1981 where Dallas enjoyed going to auctions where he would buy tools to clean up and resell. He enjoyed wheeling and dealing with antiques and collectibles, traveling and spending winters in Arizona. For entertainment, NASCAR was at the top of his list with his favorites being drivers of Ford cars.
Dallas Richard Blomquist, Sr., 92, died October 19, 2015 at Rapid City Regional Hospital Hospice of the Hills, in Rapid City, South Dakota.
Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Darlene Blomquist; grandchildren, Shannon (Christopher) Blomquist and Tracy Blomquist; great-grandchildren, Mitchell Blomquist, Breanna Blomquist, Jordan Blomquist, Mattie Blomquist; and great-great grandchildren, Caiah and Nikisha, all living in the Cambridge area. Also surviving is his sister Gloria (Frank) Wysocki and three nieces, all of California.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Carl Victor and Agnes Blomquist; two sons, Dallas Richard Blomquist, Jr. and Barry Carl Blomquist; his grandson Christopher (Kip) Blomquist; and his sister, Margaret Katz.
Services were held on October 21, 2015 with inurnment at the Black Hills National Cemetery, Sturgis, South Dakota.
Hildur Emily Lund
Hildur was born in Stanchfield, MN on Sept. 14, 1919. She attended the Elm Park and Braham schools. Hildur married Raymond Lund and they made their home on a farm in Dalbo, MN. She was a member of the Dalbo Baptist Church, Dalbo Grange and several local clubs. Hildur was always busy cooking, gardening, making gifts with her hands; crocheting, quilting, and knitting.
Hildur passed away on Oct. 25, 2015 at the age of 96.
She is survived by daughters Natalie Lund of Glasgow, KY and Julie (Dean) Hovey of Stillwater, MN; three grandchildren, Charity (Marcus) Hovey-Stubbles, Heather (David) Webb, Garret Hovey and five great-grandchildren; nieces and a nephew.
Hildur was preceded in death by husband Raymond; her parents Emil and Hilda (Ekman) Boquist; siblings George Boquist, Hedvig Judin, Lavina Boquist, Margaret White, and Victoria Miller.
There will be a family gathering at a later date in lieu of a funeral. Special thanks to the wonderful staff members at Golden Living Center-Greeley and St. Croix Hospice.
