Carl J. Wredberg

Carl Wredberg, age 88, of Princeton, went home to be with “ma” (his wife, Betsey) on March 16, 2016.
He was born a middle child on March 31, 1927 in North Branch Township to Philip and Esther (Danielson) Wredberg. Growing up Carl worked on the family farm with his father, which sparked his interest in agriculture. He loved to play neighborhood baseball growing up, eventually working up to a semi pro league. Carl married the love of his life, Betsey Fredrickson, on June 13, 1953 at the Weber Church in North Branch. The couple built a home on Carl’s family farm and eventually moved the homestead to North Branch. He proudly served his country in the United States Army building roads in the mountains of Colorado from 1954 – 1956. Following his honorable discharge Carl began working at Peterson’s Mill and eventually became a Purina Salesman. In 1968 he managed and owned the feed mill in Princeton. After his “retirement” from the feed mill, Carl worked various jobs and most recently at Westlings. Carl was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Princeton and past member of Weber Church in North Branch. He was also a past member of the Princeton American Legion. Carl was 100% Swedish and proud of his Swedish heritage. He was patient, caring and had a cute infectious laugh. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
Carl is survived by his children, Susan (Gerald) McGimpsey, James (Teresa) Wredberg; grandchildren, Matthew (Kristin) Amundson, Michelle Amundson, Jesse (Rachel) Wredberg and Tiffany (significant other Kyle Gardecki) Tomsky; great-grandchildren, Shealynn and Ashton Wredberg and Braxton Gardecki.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Betsey (August 17, 2015); sister, Ruth and brother, Willard.
Visitation will be held from 12-1 p.m. on Saturday, April 2, 2016 at Williams Dingmann Family Funeral Home in Princeton with a Celebration of Carl’s life beginning at 1 p.m. Arrangements have been entrusted to Williams Dingmann Family Funeral Home, Princeton.

Lucy Fredin, age 82, of the Rush Lake area, was called to her heavenly father on Sunday, March 20, 2016.
Her memory will continue to live on in the hearts of those who held her dear. She is survived by her children, Deb (Bob) Engberg, Cindy (Joe) Ledford, Randy, and Danny (Kelly) Fredin; grandchildren, Jay (April), Tammi (Brant), Troy (Shauna), David (Crystal), Mike (Chelsey), Shelby, and Emma; great-grandchildren, Delaney, Avery, Derek, and Paige; sisters, Janice, Butchie, Katen (Tom), and Sandy (Ross); brothers, Kenny (Bethie), Carly (Ellie), and Mel (Kendal); sister-in-law, Ramona; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Josiephine Julia (Nystrom) Berres, age 84, of Randall, MN, formerly of Oxlip, MN, passed away Saturday, March 19, 2016, at St. Otto’s Care Center in Little Falls, MN, surrounded by her loving family.
Survivors include her children, Bernard Berres, David (Donna) Berres, Barb Wolbeck, Kenneth (Barb) Berres, Kathi (Don) Sommerdorf, Patty Croon, Kris (Mike) Gram; 20 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; sister, Virginia “Ginny” Thompson; sister-in-law, Mary Nystrom; many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Hilmer and Adeline Nystrom; baby sister, Karin; brother, Donald Nystrom and grandsons, David, Aaron and Zachery.

Dorothy A. Dahlman

Dorothy Ann Dahlman, 90, of Cambridge, MN went to be with the Lord early Sunday morning, March 20, 2016.
She was the first born of parents Eben and Verna (Barthine) Dahlman in a back room of the summer kitchen of the Dahlman farm in Cambridge Township on November 25, 1925. She grew up on that farm and helped with house and farm work including riding the newly designed Dahlman Potato Picker; picking out vines and weeds as potatoes moved up the conveyor to be bagged on the rear end of the machine.
Dorothy was educated at Stake School, Cambridge High School, Bethel College and the University of Minnesota. She received Bachelor’s Degrees in elementary education in the ‘40’s and in Christian education in the ‘50’s. She taught 5th grade in Edina and Albert Lea, MN. She then experienced her first foreign travel by accepting a job with the Army Air Force, teaching Air Force children in Japan for two years. She then returned to Minnesota and worked as Christian Education director at her home church in Stanchfield, MN, after which she moved to Temple Baptist Church in Rockford, IL and directed their Christian Education program. After seven years she was called by the Baptist General Conference headquarters in Illinois, where she was in charge of setting up the GMG (Girls Missionary Guild), was director of Christian Women’s Ministry and other Education programs.
She traveled the world representing the Conference. In 1994 she and her roommate Ruth Bertell went to Russia to help the Baptists there set up Women’s ministry programs.
Dorothy was an excellent writer and published books on women’s ministry. Her hobby was collecting her photos and articles together in scrap books for each endeavor with which she was engaged.
In 2000 Dorothy and Ruth moved to Cambridge to live in the River Hills section of GracePointe Crossing. She was active on the board and visitation activities at First Baptist Church. In 2013 they moved to the Commons and lived there until they both passed away in 2016.
Dorothy is survived by her brothers Willis (Marge) and Ronald (Fern) and their families, many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, April 2, 2016 at First Baptist Church in Cambridge. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Interment will be in Stanchfield Baptist Cemetery. Memorials are preferred in lieu of flowers. Online condolences at www.carlsonlillemoen.com. Stephen T. Shattuck, 78, of Maplewood, MN died on February 28, 2016 in Mesa, AZ.
Preceded in death by wife, Marjorie and parents.
Survived by three sisters; children Debbie Hallamek, Rick (Joleen), Dan (Lori), Suzanne (Scott Richter), Michael (Jennifer) Shattuck; nine grandchildren, six great-grandchildren.

Iola Bergman, age 91, of Isanti passed away March 16, 2016 at Elim Care Center in Princeton.
Iola Rubine Bergman was born on January 2, 1925 in Dovray, Minnesota. She was the 3rd daughter born to Ingvald and Regina Iverson. Iola was baptized and confirmed at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Dovray and she attended school in Westbrook, Minnesota. Iola married Bob Bergman at Westbrook Lutheran Parish House on March 15, 1946. Bob and Iola lived in southern Minnesota until 1953 and then moved to Bloomington, Minnesota where they raised their two sons, Randy and Rick.
Iola was a stay at home mom and housekeeper who loved to volunteer. Iola was very involved in Randy and Rick’s lives. She was Den Mother in Cub Scouts for several years. She was also very involved in Randy and Rick’s sports activities, never missed a game and was the score keeper. She also volunteered at their schools and at Martin Luther Manor Home for the elderly in the lunchrooms. After the boys were out on their own Bob and Iola moved to the Cambridge-Isanti area. She belonged to Long Lake Lutheran Church where she was a very active member. She always belonged to a circle and would never say no when she was asked to work in the kitchen or to make bars, hot dishes or salads for a funeral or a luncheon. Iola loved to bowl and was on several leagues. She also loved playing cards, bingo and most of all loved to watch the Twins play baseball. Iola was all about family, her grandchildren and great-grandchildren meant the world to her.
She is survived by her sons, Randy (Coleen Green) of Mohave Valley, Arizona, and Rick (Lana) Bergman of Isanti; six grandchildren, Heidi (Dan) Vandenheuval, Heather (Mark) Townswick, Tom (Megan) Bergman, Christopher (Mari) Bergman, Brandon (Dawn Marie) Bergman, and Tami (Joe) Huberty; 18 great-grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; her sister Helen Iverson and many other relatives and friends.
Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Robert; and three sisters, Ruby, Hazel and Vonnie.

arna Mae Carlson, age 83, of Cambridge and formerly of Pine City, died March 22, 2016 at GracePointe Crossing Gables West.
Varna Mae Carlson was born July 28, 1932 in Menomonie, Wisconsin to Edwin and Margaret (Hecklinger) Eastwood. She was the oldest of the three daughters. In 1951 she graduated from Johnson High School in St. Paul and also attended business college. She started life as a musician and artist. Varna also worked as a secretary. She met Richard Arthur Carlson at a party where they played “spin the bottle” and they were married a short time later. They moved to Pine City in 1971 and Varna has lived at GracePointe Crossing in Cambridge for the last two years.
Varna loved her flower gardens and helped at church with their gardens. She especially loved God and time with family. Varna also enjoyed her cats, and raising pigeons and fancy chickens.
She will be lovingly remembered by her sons, Richard Carlson of Pine City, Steve Carlson of Cambridge, Dave (Debbie) Carlson of Cambridge; daughters, Melody Foster of Cambridge, Kathleen (Darrell) Hamilton of Sullivan, Indiana; eight grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and one more due in July and by other relatives and friends. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Richard; and two sisters, Delores Podgorski and Arvilla Spencer.

Sandy Hartse, age 65, of Dalbo, passed away March 22, 2016 at home.
Sandy J. Hartse was born February 5, 1951 in Waconia, Minnesota to Merlin and Renate (Przybylla) Briesemeister. Their family later moved to Bloomington, where she attended Lincoln High School, and graduated in 1969. In 1976 Sandy married Ron Hartse. They made their home in Hilltop and then raised their three daughters in Fridley. In 1995 they moved to Dalbo. Sandy was an active 4-H Leader with Anoka County and the MN State Alumni. Sandy loved gardening and was president of the Four Seasons Garden Club of Isanti County. Antiquing was another passion of hers and she was a founder of the Unique Boutique & Antiques Tour. She worked for Isanti County for 18 years and has been an appraiser for the past 15 years. She lived life to the fullest and will be dearly missed.
She will be lovingly remembered by her husband, Ron; three daughters, Ginger (Aaron) Lobliner, Michelle (Jason) Klein, and Lori (Chad) Frerichs; brother, Bob (Jayne) Briesemeister; sister, Sherry May; six grandchildren, Jayden, Ciara, Sydney, Kennedy, Cody and Trent; niece and nephew, Maggie and Joseph; and by many other close relatives and friends.
Besides her parents, Merlin and Renate Briesemeister, she was preceded in death by brother, Lester Briesemeister.

Mary Ann Moline

Mary Ann Moline, of Cambridge, passed away at her home on Wednesday, March 24, 2016. She was 73. Mary was born on July 23, 1942 to Milton and Esther (Beckstrom) Moline in Pine County.
She attended country school in Stanchfield and graduated from Braham High School in 1961. Mary worked for Control Data in Cambridge and Minneapolis until the company was bought out. She then retired from Seagate Technology in 2002. Mary made lifelong friends during her time at Control Data in Cambridge. She also volunteered for a time at Cambridge Health Care.
After her retirement, she returned to Cambridge to live and would join other retired Control Data ladies for luncheons. In retirement Mary moved to River Hills, where she enjoyed taking day trips with friends and family.
Mary had a phenomenal memory which was very useful in fitting gaps in the family tree. Mary loved to cook and was a great favorite at family get togethers, where her “Shoot Me To The Moon Bean” recipe was known and loved far and wide. She loved to read, collect horse figures and plates, spend time with family, and babysit her new friend, “Special K.”
She is preceded in death by her parents Milton and Esther, nieces and nephews Rebecca, Ronda, Gail, and Scott Larson, as well as nephew William Anderson.
Mary is survived by loving daughter, Jerrie Anderson; loving granddaughter and confidante, Melissa Williams; sisters, Ethel (David) Marx, Elaine Anderson, Rose (Ron) Peters, Beatrice McCarthy; brother, Eric (Elizabeth) Moline. She is also survived by special niece and personal shopper, Hope Anderson as well as many other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Memorial service held at 11 a.m. on Monday, March 28, 2016 at Carlson-Lillemoen Funeral Home in Cambridge. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Interment will take place at Cambridge Union Cemetery. Memorials are preferred to Northwoods Humane Society, PO Box 264, Wyoming, MN 55092.

Joel R. Nelson, age 39, of Richfield died unexpectedly on March 22, 2016 at North Memorial Medical Center in Robbinsdale.
Joel Roger Nelson was born in Cambridge on March 27, 1976 to Roger and Verla (Mettling) Nelson. He was raised and attended school in the Cambridge-Isanti Community. He was now living in Richfield. Joel was employed as a heavy equipment operator for North Valley Construction Company. He loved his boys and going fishing. Joel also loved sports, especially basketball, and listening to music.
He is survived by his sons, Larmey, Jeremiah and Noah Nelson and former wife, Amy all of Florida; mother, Verla Nelson of Cambridge; father, Roger Nelson of Stacy; sisters, Renae Carpenter of Cambridge, Jeanna Thompson of Harvey, North Dakota, Lisa (Jade) West of Cushing, Wisconsin; step-sisters, Holly (Eric Berg) Olson of Braham, Lisa (Scott) Johnson of Isanti; grandmother, Fern Mettling of Hinckley; and by many other relatives and friends.

Karen L. Illg

Karen Louise Illg, age 67, of rural Isanti, passed away peacefully at her home on March 23, 2016 after a long courageous battle against cancer.
Karen was born June 26, 1948 in Willmar, MN to Melvin and Deloris Peterson. After selling the family farm they moved to Spring Lake Park where Karen grew up and attended school. After high school Karen married George Harves and they had two children, Christopher and Renee.
Karen worked at various schools doing clerical work and for the last 25 or more years for Anoka County as a family court deputy and then supervisor of the Family Court division until her retirement.
Karen married the love of her life, Lyle on June 13, 1981. After her first diagnosis of cancer in 1989 they made plans and built their hobby farm in rural Isanti. They were going to live life to the fullest. There Karen was able to fulfill her dream of having her own horses again. Along with Lyle they shared their love of farm life. Lyle with his restoration of tractors, threshing and farm work and Karen with her horses. She passed on this love of horses to her children and grandchildren. Many a weekend Karen could be found camping at various horse show locations and participating in the game events. In the last few years she could only watch from the sideline but could be heard cheering on everyone else with words of encouragement.
Karen was an active in Isanti County 4-H, North Metro Association, MSNS Saddle Club and Tri County Old Thyme Threshers.
The last 6 years Karen had battled her cancer again. Stage 4 breast cancer with metastasis to the bones, liver, pancreas and eventually in February the cancer went directly to her heart. Karen never complained through all of this and many people didn’t even know she was ill or going through treatments all this time.
She was an amazingly strong woman and courageous until the end. She is back with her love, Lyle, forever. She will be greatly missed by all who loved her.
Karen is survived by son: Chris (Melinda) Harves of Cottage Grove, daughter: Renee Gemmill of Isanti, and step son: Gerry (Shirley) Illg of East Bethel; eight grandchildren: Lisa (Kory) Illg- Kunza, Amanda (Keith) Johnson, Jason (Danielle) Illg, CJ Harves, Rebecca Harves, Christina Harves, Robin Gemmill and JD Gemmill; fourgreat-grandchildren; sister: Lynn (Dan) Carlson of Santa Rosa, CA; niece: Trisha (Jeff) Ramos; nephew: Troy Torgrimson; special daughter in heart, Tammy Morphew; as well as other cousins and relatives.

Beverly Ann Johnson

Beverly Ann Johnson of Cambridge, MN formerly of Austin and Tamarack, MN passed away on Saturday, March 19, 2016 at Cambridge Medical Center at the age of 96.
Beverly was born September 14, 1919 in Braham, MN to Charles and Frances (Peterson) Mattson. She grew up on the family farm “The Flying Hoof” southwest of Braham. Beverly attended the Pine Cone District 41 country school and graduated from Braham High School in 1937. Early employment consisted of clerical and administrative duties within government offices of the FHA and USDA at several locations in Minnesota, including Stillwater and Rochester.
She was an active member of the Rum River Saddle Club and enjoyed horseback riding for many years. In her early 20’s she and her sister Helen Mae rode their horses from Stillwater back home to The Flying Hoof on an overnight trail ride.
Beverly met Theodore Johnson, the love of her life while ice skating in Rochester. They were married on May 29, 1952 at Stanchfield Baptist Church. The couple lived in Austin, MN while Ted worked at Hormel until his retirement.
Following retirement Bev and Ted moved to their hunting and fishing shack, “The Golden Antler” in Tamarack. It was turned into a beautiful year-round cozy cabin in the woods, adorned by Ted’s wood craftsmanship and Bev’s arrangements from her nature walks. Beverly loved to pick up rocks, driftwood, wild flowers and plants as they struck her fancy. The car trunk always included a shovel and plastic bags to collect treasures found along her path. A trip to the wild blueberry patch or searching for the elusive lady slipper was commonplace. The Golden Antler was always a welcome respite for family and friends to enjoy a time to fish, hike, cross country ski, snow shoe, and snowmobile. They traveled extensively throughout the USA including Alaska on camp and fishing trips.
After Ted’s passing to glory in 1984, Bev remained at the lake cabin another four years. She moved to Cambridge in 1988 where she lived for the next 28 years. Numerous winters were spent in Florida, Texas and Arizona as she enjoyed traveling in her motorhome and continued road trips across the USA well into her 80’s.
She was an avid league bowler with the Wood Wigglers of Braham and the Blue Jays of Cambridge. Her 18# ball rolled down the alley for many a strike. She loved written correspondence with family and friends and often recycled greeting cards with a short typed note.
Beverly had a strong faith in God throughout her life and particularly enjoyed small group Bible studies with friends. She was an active member of the Church of Christ in Tamarack and the First Baptist Church of Cambridge.
Beverly will be dearly missed by her family and friends. She is preceded in death by her husband Theodore Johnson, parents Charles and Frances Mattson, siblings Glenn Mattson, Charles “CJ” Mattson Jr., Gayle Ek, Marjorie Gerdin, and infant twins Meyer and Myra Mattson.
She is survived by her sister Helen Mae (Eugene) Pederson of Braham, MN, many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
A memorial service was held on Saturday, March 26, 2016 at Stanchfield Baptist Church, with Ki Gulbranson officiating. Music was provided by Pam Theline. Honorary Urn Bearers were Dan Haley, Mike Haley, Kevin Haley, Patrick Williams, Karl Williams, Chuck Mattson, Josh Faulkner, and Tim Peterson. A private family inurnment will be held at Lakeside Cemetery in Carleton County on a future date. Arrangements were by Rock Ingebrand Funeral Home of Braham. Jeremy R. Cupit

Jeremy Cupit, age 44, died in his sleep of natural causes on March 12, 2016 while on a skiing trip in Breckenridge, Colorado.
Jeremy was born in Carbondale, Illinois on April 21, 1971, and grew up in rural Harris, Minnesota. He attended Rush City schools, graduating in 1989, and moved to Manitou Springs, Colorado at age 20. Jeremy developed an unforeseen talent with computers while working at a Kinko’s and graduated in computer science from University of Colorado. He worked at several software development firms and taught part-time at a community college before beginning his current 12 year career as senior web developer for Wells Fargo Bank.
He is survived by his son Connor 17, daughter Chloe 13, sister Statia and her son Logan, all of Manitou Springs, father Bob and stepmother Gayle of rural Harris. Statia will become guardian and remain in Manitou Springs.
He was an avid outdoors, sports, and social guy, enthusiastic about skiing, hockey, hunting, biking, craft beer, and the best garage parties.
A memorial service was held in Manitou Springs, Colorado on March 17. No further services are planned

Loving Son and Grandson

Bo Peter Redfield, age 20 months, passed away suddenly and was able to meet his grandpa Jon in heaven on March 28th, 2016.
Bo had a smile that could light up a room. He loved swinging at the park, playing his drum, looking at animal books, watching The Voice, and wrestling with his big brother and sister.
He was the beloved son of Peter and Dana (Sheehy) Redfield of Blaine, MN and Onalaska, WI. Bo was little brother to his sister Naavah and brother Hans.
He is survived by his grandparents Cheri (Sheehy) and Jon Reavis and Scott and Susanne Redfield, aunt and uncle Kristen (Sheehy) and Patrick Fay, uncle Matthew Sheehy, aunts Kara, Melissa, and Sarah Redfield, and cousins Lucas and Carter Fay. Many more relatives and friends were forever touched by Bo.
He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Jon Sheehy, of Onalaska.
A 10 a.m. visitation and 11 a.m. service will be held at First Free Church, 123 Mason Street, Onalaska, WI on Saturday April 2nd. There will be a private burial at a later date.

Carol Kay Carpenter, age 74 of Cambridge, passed away peacefully on Friday, April 1, 2016 in Forest Lake.
She is preceded in death by her father Robert Schultze and twin brother Jerry.
Carol is survived by her loving husband of 52 years Dennis; mother Hazel; children Troy, Todd and Traci; grandchildren Michael (Sammi), Tyler, Jake Carpenter, Brandi Howard, and Yazzy Mason; great-grandchildren Jacob Carpenter, Jaleiya, Joe Jr., and Jazzminn Williams, Mason Sargent and one on the way; brother Dennis Schultze of Woodbury; nephews Carl (Tyghre) Schultze, Nick Schultze; niece Cassi (Ryan) Knutson; great nieces and nephews Olive and Irene Schultze and Tenley Knutson.
Mass of Christian burial will be at 11 a.m. on Thursday, April 7, 2016 at Christ the King Catholic Church in Cambridge. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. on Wednesday, April 6, 2016 at Carlson-Lillemoen Funeral Home in Cambridge and one hour prior to Mass at church on Thursday. Interment will be at Christ the King Catholic Cemetery.

Gary D. Anderson

Gary Dale Anderson, age 79 of Cambridge, MN died and went to be with the Lord on March 31, 2016 at home after a lengthy illness.
He was born on October 29, 1936 in Minneapolis to Fred and Mabel Anderson. He attended school and graduated from St. Louis Park High School.
He was united in marriage to Dorothy Fodness on January 30, 1960 in Dell Rapids, SD. Gary attended Brown College, receiving a degree in Electronic Technology.
Gary served two years in the U.S. Army and was honorably discharged. He was employed by Honeywell for 32 years; while there he earned one patent. He retired in 1991 at the age of 55.
He enjoyed reading, playing cards, cribbage, chess, solving code words, fishing, and hunting. He also enjoyed woodworking (where he made many items for the home, including the remodeling of their home), mowing the grass and puttering around their hobby farm in Rush Point, MN with the families special Golden Retriever dogs (Copper, Chance and Fred), and he also enjoyed raising beef cattle. He loved watching the birds and the wildlife that visited over the years.
Gary and Dorothy lived in Coon Rapids, MN for nine years and then moved to their Rush Point farm in 1969 where they lived for 46 years. In the fall of 2015, they moved to their present home in Cambridge, MN.
Gary was a member of Calvary Evangelical Lutheran Church of Rush Point, MN, and of Leisure Club. He was skilled at fixing and repairing everything, basically a jack of all trades.
He is survived by his loving spouse of 56 years, Dorothy; children, Lisa Schluck of Bloomington, MN, Beth Anderson of Esko, MN and Sara Anderson of Cambridge, MN; grandchildren, Erin Norris, Colin Schluck, Alison Schluck (Matt Grand), Kyle Schluck, Samia Anderson and Keone Anderson; great-grandchildren, Nola Norris, Dottie Norris and Summer Grand; sister Joan (David) Nordquist of Kansas; niece Mary White; nephew Steven Nordquist; many cousins, other relatives and special friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents.
A special thank you to Allina Hospice for their exceptional care. Memorials preferred in lieu of flowers.
Memorial service held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, April 16, 2016 at Calvary Evangelical Lutheran Church in Rush Point, MN. Visitation one hour before the service.
