Elma Hasbrook passed away on Tuesday, August 30, 2016 at her daughter’s home in Brook Park at the age of 79.
Elma Elizabeth (Linnemeyer) Hasbrook was born to Henry and Emily (Engholm) Linnemeyer on September 25, 1936 in Fairmont, Minnesota.
Elma is survived by her children Lloyd “Butch” (Rhonda) Hasbrook of Clara City, David (Lilly) Sandeen, Lauri (Casey) Arends all of Rush City, Susan Helmer and James (Brandy) Sandeen all of Beroun; grandchildren Jessica, Melissa, Amanda, Nadine, Rachelle, Courtney, Samantha, James Allen, Stephanie, Ashley, Joshua and Justin; great-grandchildren Jennifer, Aiden, Crysta, Keely, Jada, Hailea, Ariah, Taydn, Breckyn, Amiya, Kasen and Jacob; sister Janice Sandeen of Cambridge; many other relatives and friends.
She is preceded in death by her husband Charles “Chuck” Hasbrook, son Ronald, parents Henry and Emily (Engholm) Linnemeyer and 12 siblings.
A Celebration of Life for Elma will be held at 4 p.m. Saturday, September 17, 2016 at the Milo Sandeen residence on West Rush Lake.

Lucille L. Stamm, 87, of Isanti passed away on Monday, September 12, 2016 at Prairie Sr. Cottages in Isanti.
She was born December 21, 1928 in Minneapolis, MN to Hjalmer and Ingeborg (Solstad) Nylander. The family lived a short time in Minneapolis until they bought a farm near Kost, MN where Lucille grew up. She attended the Kost School, was confirmed at Kost Evangelical Free Church, and graduated from North Branch High School in 1946. After high school she worked as a nanny for two boys for eight years.
On June 11, 1955 she was united in marriage to Gordon Stamm at the Glendon and Irma Hanson home. They would live in an apartment in Minneapolis for a short time while she worked at Fannie Farmer. They would later move to North Branch and then in 1959 moved to Isanti. In 1967 they bought their home in Isanti where they raised their five children.
Lucille enjoyed drawing, painting, doing crossword puzzles, flowers, bird watching, watching the Minnesota Twins and she loved chocolate.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Gordon, infant daughter Luann, grandson Eric Weibler, brother Arthur Nylander, and sister Helen Nylander.
Lucille is survived by her children Laura (Dave) Weibler of Overbrook, KS, Cheryn Stamm of Isanti, Connie Stamm of Princeton, Julie (Jay) Quarnstrom of Cambridge, David (Carol) Stamm of Cambridge, grandchildren Kali and Hannah Weibler, Melissa and Joe Christianson, Tyler and Emily Peterson, Rosalie and Jadon Bates, Cadin and Addison Stamm, Kelsey Bates, great granddaughter Marianna, sisters Marian Hector of Minneapolis, Ruby Benson of North Branch, as well as many other relatives and friends.
Funeral Service at 11 a.m., on Saturday, September 17, at Carlson-Lillemoen Funeral Home. Visitation one hour prior to the service. Interment in the St. John Lutheran Cemetery Weber. Gary Ernst Voss

Gary Ernst Voss, of Pine City, formerly of Cambridge, passed away on September 11, 2016 at his home from a brain tumor. He was 67 years old.
Gary was born May 31, 1949 in Hutchinson MN to Ernst Edward Voss and Ethel Mae (Linderfelter) Voss. He grew up on the family farm, third of six sibling and attended Cambridge High School where graduated in 1968. 
After high school he enlisted in the US Army and served his country from 1969-1971 during the Vietnam War. In July 1972 he met Charlotte Welch and they married December 16, 1972 at Springvale.  To this union three children were born. Gary learned to cut meat at Kingers in Rush City.  He was blessed with a job at Cub Foods for many years. Gary is a member of Open Arms Church in Grasston. His hobbies included farming and fishing. 
He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters, Shirley Anderson and Sharon Swedeen, brother Frank Griffith, brother-in-law Howard Doble and son-in-law Robert Ducker.
Gary is survived by his wife Charlotte of Pine City; children Cheri (Kent) Goodner of Pine City; Lori (Jason) Petersen of Taylors Falls; David Voss of Pine City; eight grandchildren Cody, Matthew, Christian, Jacob, Emma, Angela, Samantha and Samuel; sister Teresa Doble; brother Tom Voss; many in-laws, many nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.
A Funeral Service was held on Thursday, September 15, 2016 at the Open Arms Church in Grasston with Pastor Eugene Sherrod officiating. Casket Bearers were David Voss, Cody Ducker, Matthew Ducker, Jacob Goodner, Christian Lausen, and Danny Koestler.  Honorary Casket Bearer was Samuel Petersen. Interment was in the Stanchfield Baptist Cemetery. Military Honors were provided by the Cambridge American Legion Post #290.

Keith B. Osterman, age 72, of Cambridge, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family at his home on September 13, 2016.
Preceded in death by his parents Lawrence and Doris; brother-in-law Mike Pickles and infant nephews Timothy Marsyla and John Osterman.
Survived by his loving wife of 50 years Barb, son David, brother Lynn (Nancy) Osterman of Mora, MN and sister Marilyn (Byron) Stahl of New Prague, MN. Also survived by sisters-in-law Bonnie (Duane) Carlson of Pine City, Pat Pickles of McGregor, MN; brother-in-law Howie (Alice) Pickles of McGregor, MN and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Keith was a long-time employee of Team Industries for over 30 years.
He was a US Army veteran and an avid hunter, fisherman and golfer.
Memorial service 1 p.m. Saturday, September 17, 2016 at Round Lake Presbyterian Church, 16652 Goshawk St. McGregor, MN. Visitation 1 hour prior to service at the church. Interment at the church cemetery.

Preceded in death by husband, Leonard H. Nieman; father, Ivan Patrick Karnes; mother, Violet Marie Allen.
Survived by children LeEtte France (Jerry), Larry L. Nieman (Debbie), Charles “Chuck” Nieman (Bonnie), Lee R. Nieman (Debi); 10 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild.
Services are Sunday, Sept. 18, 2016 at 3 p.m. at Maple Ridge Evangelical Free Church, 801 401st Ave. NW, Stanchfield, MN 55080. Reception to follow. Burial will be at Rice Lake Cemetery.

Gary E. Coleman

Gary Earle Coleman, of Braham, Minnesota, formerly of New Brighton, MN, unexpectedly passed into the Loving Arms of Jesus at home on Sunday, Sept. 11, 2016 at the age of 65.
Gary was born Nov. 3, 1950 in Minneapolis, MN to Kenneth and Linnea (Anderson) Coleman. He grew up in New Brighton, the fourth of six siblings, and graduated from Mounds View High School. After high school he attended Pine City Vo Tech.
On Nov. 10, 1979, he married Patricia (Dintzner) Coleman in West St. Paul, MN. Gary and Pat moved to Braham in 1980 and raised their three children in the home where they currently reside. He worked as a welder/machinist at several shops and lastly for Johnson Screens of New Brighton for 25 years.
Gary’s passions were his family, friends and his faith in God. He was an active member in the Scriptures for America church where he had many published articles. He was a self-proclaimed evangelist and spread his love of God and worldly beliefs to anyone he met. He loved anything mechanical, especially fixing cars, was a collector of everything and spent his weekends attending swap meets and gun shows. Gary was known for his gift of gab, his big smile, and dry sense of humor. He loved being a grandpa and often vocalized how much joy his grandchildren brought him. He will be truly missed by all who knew and loved him.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Larry.
Gary is survived by his wife Patricia; son Russell (Julie) and grandson Wyatt Coleman of Braham, MN; daughter Kate (Kevin Reiser) and granddaughters Olivia and Harper Reiser of Louisville, KY; daughter Rachel (Greg Haubrich) and grandson Dylan Haubrich of Olivia, MN; brother Wayne (Mariela) of Lynnwood, WA; brother Tyson of Seatle, WA; and brother Gene (Kathy) of Standwood, WA; many other relatives and friends.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, Sept. 17, 2016 at the Braham Covenant Church with Rev. Steve Jennisch officiating. Interment will be in the Mission Covenant Cemetery in Braham. Carl A. Larson, of Braham, passed away on Friday, September 16, 2016 at the Golden Living Center- Lake Ridge in Roseville. He was 83 years old.
Carl is preceded in death by his parents Alphy and Maude and his wife Naomi.
He is survived by his children, Carl Jr. (Nancy), Karen Makaraitis, Sharon Direen, and Gayle (Darryl) Stream; five grandchildren, Grant, Melissa, Kimberly, Daniel, and Cassidy; three great-grandchildren, Tiana, Reilly, and Kayla; many other relatives and friends.

Patricia “Pat” J. Olson, age 72, of Princeton, MN passed away peacefully Wednesday, September 14, 2016 after a courageous battle with cancer.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Gladys Neske, and brother, Dennis Neske.

68, of Isanti, passed away on September 15, 2016 after a long battle with cancer and MS.
She grew up on a dairy farm near Meire Grove, MN, graduated Sauk Centre High School, St. Cloud State University, and the University of St. Thomas. She began her career as a teacher at Underwood Elementary, and finished her career with 27 years in the St. Francis School District 15. She spent her retirement with family and friends, traveling, and enjoying nature.
She was preceded in death by her parents Albert and Mary Yarke, her brother Jerome Yarke, and her nephews Kevin and Ron Blenker.
Survived by her husband Joseph Plantenberg of 45 years, her daughters Jennifer and Jacqueline Plantenberg, her brothers and sisters Eugene, Roger, Richard Yarke, Mary Ann (Allen) Blenker, Irene (Jim) Nathe, Joe (Sally) Yarke, Albert Jr. (Joyce) Yarke, JoAnn (Rick) Scharenbroich, Jane (Jim) Kraker, Marlene (Steve) Gunderson, and many other relatives and good friends.

Beloved Mother, Grandmother and Great-Grandmother

Laverne Larson Swanson, a long-time resident of the Cambridge area was granted her angel wings on Thursday, September 14th after 97 ½ years on earth. Her final days were spent at Heartwood Senior Living Center in Crosby, MN.

Laverne was born on March 11, 1919 in Cambridge, MN to Oscar and Mabel (Torell) Wallin. She was the fifth of eleven children, and was raised on the family farm in Walbo. She attended school at Walbo Country School.

She married Marvin Larson in 1937 and they were happily married for 49 ½ years. They lived in numerous locations, finally settling on the family farm in Springvale Township. They had two daughters, Deanna and Karen. Laverne worked outside of the home at the Arsenal, then later at Honeywell. After her retirement, they moved into Cambridge where they enjoyed their final years together.

After Marvin's passing n 1986, Laverne married Rodney Swanson. They resided in Cambridge, traveling extensively during the winter. Rodney passed away in 2004. Laverne continued to live in her Cambridge home for many years, then moved to apartments in East Terrace Co-op, River Hills, and eventually relocated to Heartwood Senior Center (Crosby, MN) in 2013 so she could be near her daughter.

Laverne attended Cambridge Lutheran Church from birth, and was a faithful member throughout her life. In her later years, when it became difficult to attend Church, she contributed toward the Sunday radio broadcast, ensuring she and other shut-ins could listen to the Sunday service each week.

Laverne loved a good meal and a cup of Folger's coffee, socializing, playing cards, and her flowers. She loved to sing old time songs and hymns. One of her favorite pastimes was sharing stories about genealogy. She loved to figure out how you, or someone you knew, were related to her. Most dear to her were her daughters, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She was devoted to her family and spent time with them as often as possible.

Laverne is survived by her daughters, Deanna (Archie) Olson of Deerwood, and Karen Mattson of International Falls/Sun City. She has 5 Grandsons, Jay Larson, Jack Mattson, Craig (Monica) Olson, Jon (Cheryl) Mattson and Shawn Olson; and 1 Granddaughter, Dayette (Dale) O'Brien. Laverne is survived by numerous great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren and three Godchildren. Laverne is also survived by two sisters Joyce (Don) Tessmer, and Norma Ziebarth, brother Blaine Wallin, and special niece and nephew Dorienne Smith and Dwaine (Lorna) Larson.

Laverne was proceeded in death by husbands Marvin Larson and Rodney Swanson, parents Oscar and Mabel, brothers Lawrence, Kermit, Clifford, Marvin and Waldon, and sisters Bernice and Francis. She was the beloved matriarch of her family and will be dearly missed.

Visitation will be held at Carlson-Lillemoen Funeral Home 311 S. Ashland St. 763-689-2244 in Cambridge on Thursday, Spetember 22nd from 4-7pm. Funeral Services will be at Friday, September 23rd at the Cambridge Lutheran Church 621 Old N. Main St. Cambridge, with visitation from 10-11am, service at 11:00am, followed by internment at the Cambridge Lutheran Church cemetery.

Thomas M. Smith

Thomas M. Smith, age 79, of Cambridge died September 16, 2016 at Ecumen North Branch after a long battle with cancer.
Tom was born July 31, 1937 in Lebanon, Pennsylvania to Hugh and Maude (Foreman) Smith. He grew up in Lebanon and graduated from Lebanon High School in 1955.
Tom enlisted in the U.S. Air Force a short time after high school. He served his four years with his training being in radar and radio repair. On May 20, 1961 he married Sandy Solberg in Willmar where Tom was serving at the air base. They lived in Crystal until 1964 when they moved to Cambridge. Tom worked as a production control manager at Control Data for 26 years.
He was always involved in sports and helped with the Purple Hawk in its early years. He played and coached softball for many years and also enjoyed watching his daughter and other family members play. Tom was instrumental in organizing and building both of the softball complexes in Cambridge and he served as Vice President of the Cambridge-Isanti Area Softball Association. In 2014 he was inducted into the Minnesota Sports Federation Hall of Fame for his dedicated volunteer work. Tom was loved dearly and will be truly missed.
He is survived by his daughter, Janae (John) Collins of Stanchfield; son, Greg (Sara) Smith of Preston; sister, Katherine Mease of Lebanon, PA; four grandchildren, Jacob, Justin, Riana and Bradyn; three great-grandchildren, Jackson, Daisy and Rainy; very special longtime friend Bobbi Mold and her niece and nephew, Julia and Seth who hold a very special spot in his heart and by many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Hugh and Maude Smith, and two sisters, Grace Schillich and Dorothy Nelson.

Emmett A. Moline

Emmett Anton Moline, age 80, died peacefully at home with family at his side on September 15, 2016.
Emmett was born in Maple Ridge Township west of Cambridge, on March 15, 1936. He grew up out in the country and attended Maple Ridge Elementary School and Braham High School where he was a linebacker on the football team. Emmett was also known by many family members and those in the community as Johnny. He was a woodworker and a welder throughout his life. He married Mary Allen in January 1964. He built his family home where he and Mary raised their family and lived there until his death. An avid carpenter, outdoors man and metal worker, he built a number of pieces of furniture, a sailboat, trailers, and enjoyed numerous hunting trips in his life.
He served as a radar operator in the Air force in Germany, North Africa, France, Luxemburg in the 1950’s. He was also a Sunday School superintendent at North Isanti Baptist church in the late 1970’s. He liked to help others and was very interested in building up a healthy wildlife habitat. Emmett volunteered for the Forest Service at Devil’s tower in Wyoming and the Yaak Valley in Montana.
Emmett was preceded in death by his parents John and Alvina Moline, and brother Valdez Moline. He is survived by his wife Mary Moline, children Michael (Jennifer) Moline, Karen Shih, Timothy (Amy) Moline, Jennifer (Daniel) Carlson, Mark (Christy) Moline and 11 grandchildren. He is also survived by his siblings, Virginia, Gaynor, Keith, and Carol and sister-in-law, Marlys Moline.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, October 7th at 11 a.m. at First Baptist Church, Cambridge, MN. Visitation with the family will be an hour before the service. A light lunch will be served immediately following the service. He will be interred at South Maple Ridge Cemetery at 2 p.m. Arrangements have been made with Strike Funeral Home.

Barbara J. Nordberg

Mrs. Barbara Jean Nordberg, Nee’ Hall, age 84 of Cambridge, Minnesota, died at Arbor Oaks Assisted Living in Andover, Minnesota on September 4, 2016 surrounded by family.
Barbara was born September 16, 1931 in Merna, Nebraska, the daughter of Marshall and Sibyl (McCrory) Hall. She graduated from Princeton High School in 1939 and went on to become a medical assistant in Minneapolis.
Barbara moved to Cambridge and worked for Drs. Larson and Magnuson in the Cambridge Clinic as a medical assistant. She married Wayne Nordberg at Cambridge Lutheran Church on October 7, 1951, and started a family of three children, Paul, Alison and Clark. Barbara worked with her husband in his Electrical Contracting business and eventually opened and managed a Lighting Studio and Gift Shop. Barbara returned to the University of Minnesota, graduating with a degree in Nursing in 1975 and worked in Labor and Delivery at Cambridge Memorial Hospital. She obtained a Master’s Degree in Child-Bearing and Child-Rearing in 1980, teaching in the Nursing Program at Anoka-Ramsey and worked as a Midwife at Hennepin County Medical Center before concentrating her energy on her businesses at home.
Barbara was passionate about the ministry of service at her church. She served in many Church Circles, committees and ministries, including the Befrienders Ministry. In her later years, she initiated the Parish Nursing Program at Cambridge Lutheran and was integral in starting the Second Harvest Food Shelf. After she retired from these ministries, Barbara sewed baby quilts for babies baptized at the church.
Barbara will be missed by the family she loved and treasured, including her three children, Paul (Leslie) Nordberg of Cambridge, MN, Alison (Dan) Husak of Coon Rapids, MN, and Clark (Christine) Nordberg of Viroqua, WI; six grandchildren, Eric (Jennifer) Nordberg, Joni (Chris) Nordberg; Brian Hanna, Andrew and Jacob Nordberg and Alex Husak; three brothers, Robert (Betsy) Hall of Rock Hill, SC, Wayne Hall of Winchester KY, and James (Sandie) Hall of Waynesboro, VA; nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Marshall and Sibyl Hall; husband, Wayne Nordberg; brother, Marshall Hall; brother and sister-in-law, George and Maxine (Nordberg) Jenkins.
Memorial services were held at Cambridge Lutheran Church on Saturday, September 10, at 11 a.m. Visitation was one hour prior to the service at the Church. Private interment prior to the service. Memorials preferred to Alzheimer’s Association or Cambridge Lutheran Church Outreach Ministries.

Anthony John Bray

Born July 10, 1988, Tony died unexpectedly September 10, 2016.
He is preceded in death by grandparents, Donald and Lorraine Menege and Cliff and Mary Duell.
He is survived by father John (Debra), mother Nancy, sisters Nicole (Tyler) and Angela (Jeremy), aunts uncles cousins and many friends.
Tony lived life to the fullest. He loved his family and many friends and his mother held a special place in his heart. He loved his cat, Smokey, and his passion for the Minnesota Vikings was well known. His smile lit up a room and you never forget his big bear hugs.
We would like to thank the community of Cambridge and surrounding area for the love and support the family has received. Tony had many friends here and it was home to him.
A memorial service will be held September 25, 2016 at the Richard G. Hardy Performing Arts Center, 430 8th Ave NW, Cambridge, MN 55008 from 12-3 p.m. Service starts at 12:30 p.m. followed by a lunch afterwards.

Maureen Bridget Rooney, 63, passed away Friday, Sept. 16, 2016 at Ecumen Parmly LifePointes in Chisago City, after a ten year battle with cancer. She was surrounded by friends and family, and left us peacefully to be with her heavenly father. Maureen was born Dec. 16, 1952 to Roland and Marjorie Rooney. She led a life full of fun and adventure, and possessed a vivacious spirit.
After graduating from court reporting school in 1980 she moved to Hawaii for eight years to work in Kailua-Kona on the Big Island of Hawaii. She later returned to Minnesota and served a term as the president of the Minnesota Court Reporters Association. She loved to travel, and went to such far flung locations as Australia and Paraguay for fun, and to volunteer her time to help others.
Maureen is survived by her son Eddie; mother Marjorie; brothers Pat, Tim, and Mike; and numerous friends. Her life was an inspiration, and she was a blessing to everyone who knew her. Her memory will always be cherished.
Funeral services will be held Friday, Sept. 23 at noon at the North Branch Methodist Church. There will be a visitation before the service.

MillaAnn (Varichak) Mayer

MilaAnn Mayer, 79, passed away Sunday, September 18, 2016 surrounded by her loving family.
She was born in Chisholm, Minnesota to Miles and AnnaRose Varichak and grew up in Hibbing and Chisholm. She married the love of her life, Bill, in 1961 and they raised their family in Braham before retiring in Cambridge. She worked as a registered nurse and retired from the Cambridge State Hospital. She enjoyed jigsaw and crossword puzzles, occasional trips to the casino, and spending time with her beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She is survived by her daughters, Mary (Mike) Lundgren and Mona (Kevin) Bettencourt; her grandchildren, Nicholas (Sarah), Derrick (Sarah), Bonnie, Mason, Eden, Kenzie and Kelden; her great-grandchildren, Ruby and Billy; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Bill; her son, Mark; her parents, Miles and AnnaRose Varichak; and her brother, Roger Varichak.
A celebration of life will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, September 24th at Washburn-McReavy Coon Rapids Funeral Chapel, 1827 Coon Rapids Blvd. N.W., Coon Rapids, MN 55433. Visitation: A gathering will be held for one hour prior to the service at the funeral chapel.

H. Delbert Lindquist

H. Delbert Lindquist, 99, of Cambridge, passed away on Sept. 17, 2016 in Cambridge, MN.
Delbert was born in Mora, MN to Albin and Mabel (Nelson) Lindquist, the oldest of 7 children. He was married to Eleanor Reichel April 14, 1940. He was a heavy equipment owner and operator, having partnerships with Lindquist & Olson Construction and also Lindquist & Leaf Construction. He worked on the Alcon Highway in Alaska, he cleared for many dams in western states and built roads all over Minnesota, he dug many basements in Isanti county and the surrounding areas. He was a hardworking man who valued his family and taught each of us to work hard for what you want. He enjoyed dancing, (waltz and polkas were his favorites), playing pool, golfing, watching the twins, watching old westerns and travel. He was a veteran serving in Japan during World War II.
Delbert was preceded in death by his wife Eleanor; his parents; his sisters, Marion Anderson, Irene Poss and Eleanor Anderson; his brother Donald Lindquist; his in-laws, Walter and Violet Reichel, Robert and Beverly Reichel, Dorothy and Lester Norman, Donald King, Lorraine Reichel, Donna Lindquist, Richard Johnson, Roy Anderson, Eugene “Andy” Anderson.
Delbert is survived by his wife Joyce, two children, six grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, one brother, one sister, one sister-in-law, one brother-in-law, and many other family and friends.
Pallbearers: Doug Hanson, Jason Lindquist, Anthony Oliver, John Houliston, Donald Leaf, Mark Leaf.
The family of Delbert wishes to extend our sincere thanks to: Riverhills staff, Grace Pointe Crossing East staff and for Guardian Angels Hospice for all their love and support during his final months/days.
Funeral arrangements: Friday, Sept. 23rd, visitation 3 p.m. Cambridge Lutheran Church, 4 p.m. service, burial and luncheon to follow.
