Lyle L. Swedeen

SwedeenLyleLyle Loren Swedeen went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, May 18, 2013.

Lyle was born to Glen and Ardis (Backman) Swedeen on Jan. 7, 1951. Lyle grew up in the Walbo area and attended Walbo country school through 8th grade and then went to Cambridge High School and graduated in 1968. Starting in his early years his love of music was evident.  His father Glen taught him to play some instruments along the way.  He went on to travel with the “Portable Pioneer and Prairie Show.” Lyle was very versatile as far as musical instruments and could fill anywhere it seems. He joined a rock band and began writing his own songs, also writing music for a publishing company in Los Angeles. In 1972 he recorded an album which went national. He also traveled with the “Cotton Patch Gospel Show” they toured the United States. In his later years he began playing with the Grace Alone music team for the Horizon Service at the Cambridge Lutheran Church. He loved playing there and met many friends. He loved his family and would fix lots of musical instruments for up and coming musicians in his family.

Lyle is preceded in death by his father Glen; Brother Linden; niece Nicole Larson; brother-in-law Clark Dahlin.

Lyle is survived by his mother Ardis Swedeen; Sisters Janet (Roger) Sundvall of Cambridge, Joan Dahlin of Cambridge, Lorna (Dwaine) Larson of Cambridge, Wendy (Kevin) Dunn of Estes Park, Colo.,  Lorinda (Curt) Hauge; sister-in-law Jeannie Swedeen of Cambridge; many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Memorial Service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, May 24, 2013 at the Cambridge Lutheran Church with Pastor Andy Romstad officiating. Visitation will begin one hour before the service. Music will be provided by Kenny Krona, Gwen Anderson, Kara Sundvall and Mikaela Kase. Interment will be at the Cambridge Union Cemetery. Urn Bearer will be Lorinda Hauge; Honorary Pallbearers Clayton Sundvall, Wayne Sundvall, Brad Sundvall, Cliff Dahlin, Tory Dahlin, Jason Dahlin, Kable Reid. Memorials are preferred to the family in lieu of flowers. Arrangements are with the Carlson-Lillemoen Funeral Home & Cremation Services of Cambridge.
