Nancy Rey Skoglund Weiss

Loving Wife, Mother, Grandmother & Sister

On August 7, 2014, Nancy Rey Skoglund Weiss went home to her Lord, her Grandma & Grandpa Skoglund & her Sister Lynn.
Nancy Rey Weiss was born on June 15,1951 to Richard and Polly Skoglund in Minneapolis, Minnesota. She spent her childhood on a farm and loved raising, riding & showing her award-winning horses. Always an excellent student, she graduated with Distinction from Cambridge high school in 1971. She was active in many clubs including being the editor of her high school newspaper.
Always a California girl at heart, she followed her Mother to Los Angeles in 1972 and enrolled at Woodbury University. It was there at a fraternity party that she met her soul mate, Sam. They spent the beginning of their life together backpacking through Europe and upon their return were blessed with three daughters, Erin, Laura and Susan, who were eventually followed by two grandchildren, Evelyn and Benjamin.
Nancy devoted her life to being a dedicated and loving mother, always planning fun activities and exposing her children to all of the wonderful culture and experiences that life has to offer. After the birth of Susan, Nancy embarked upon a career in teaching. She taught 6th grade at El Sereno Elementary School and spent many years teaching 6th and 7th grade English and History at Washington Irving Middle School. She took great pride in being a creative lesson planner and loved designing fun and engaging projects for her students.
Nancy was the most loving and generous person and would always be willing to help friends and family when they needed her. She was active in her church and an inspiration to everyone she met. Above all else, she loved spending time with her family. Sunday dinners with the family became the norm, even after her daughters moved into homes of their own. Nana kept tradition alive by taking Evelyn on many wonderful outings to the pony rides, the Natural History Museum and the Hollywood Bowl to name a few.
She is survived by her loving husband of 43 years, Sam, her daughters, Erin, Laura and Susan, grandchildren Evelyn and Benjamin, Sister Jill & Brother Mark & Steven as well as her extended family and friends and will forever be in their hearts.
She was proceeded in death by her Grandma & Grandpa Nancy & Reynold Skoglund, Father & Mother, Sister Lynn & Brother Gregory
She was laid to rest in a Christian service of burial at Hillside Cemetery in Los Angles.
