Janice deBernardeaux, age 71, of Brook Park died October 24, 2014 at GracePointe Crossing Gables West.
Janice Aileen deBernardeaux was born on September 26, 1943 in Crow Wing Township, Hubbard County, Minnesota, to Palmer and Marion (Arola) Helgeson. Janice was raised and lived her early years in International Falls. As a young woman she married Merle Carlson and they made their home in northern Minnesota and they had two sons. Her husband Merle died as the result of an automobile accident. Janice later married Edward deBernardeaux and they made their home in Isanti and had two children. Ed and Janice would later divorce. She later met her significant other, Wayne Lindell, and they lived in Isanti for many years. Janice loved cooking, baking, sewing and making gifts for others. She especially loved the Holidays, they were her favorite time of the year, making treats and being with family and friends. Janice also loved fishing, just being out on the lake and playing cards.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by an infant brother, Russell Wayne Helgeson; husband, Merle Carlson; brother, John Helgeson; significant other of her father, Shirley; the significant other of her mother, William and her significant other, Wayne Lindell.
Janice is survived by her four children, John Carlson of Pine City, Clayton (Laurie) Carlson of Pine City, Rodney (Lori) deBernardeaux of Princeton, Michelle (Brian) Krone of Brook Park; by many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; two sisters, Elsie Korpi of Ranier, MN, Judy (Bruce) Anderson of Ericksburg, MN; two brothers, Harold (Caroline) Helgeson of Ray, MN, Palmer Helgeson of International Falls; former husband, Ed deBernardeaux of Pine City; and by many other relatives and friends.
A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, October 28, 2014 at Elim Baptist Church in Isanti with Rev. Ryan OLeary officiating. Vocalists will be Carmelle Anderson and Harold Anderson. Marlene Hartzell will serve as pianist. Interment in North Isanti Baptist Cemetery. Arrangements are entrusted to the care of Strike Funeral Home Isanti Chapel.
