Charlotte Halverson, age 63, of Cambridge died July 22, 2013 at her son’s home.
Charlotte Joan Halverson was born November 8, 1949 to Charles Kenneth Schultz and Darleen Pearl (Voss) Richardson in Braham. Charlotte was raised in the Andover area and attended school in Anoka with her 2 brothers and 3 sisters. While growing up she attended church at Constance Free Church, and working the farm fields in the summer with her siblings and friends.
Charlotte met Romaine “Ron” Willard Halverson and married him on March 21, 1970 and together they had three sons—George, Stormy and Halver. Over the years, they moved to northern Minnesota where they tried their hand at the logging business. Charlotte worked a variety of jobs including at a sawmill, hotel café and nursing home. In 1984, Charlotte and her family moved to the Cambridge-Isanti area where they made their home.
During this time period she enjoyed spending time with her family. Many Saturday afternoons were spent with her Mom, Darleen and her husband Thomas Neil Richardson. Over the years Charlotte, her sisters, her mom and others would gather for birthdays and other occasions. In 1989 she received her nursing degree while attending Anoka Hennepin Technical College. She restarted her nursing career working at Grandview nursing home then transitioning to Cambridge Health Care Center.
Charlotte stopped working in the nursing homes and began working at Allina Medical Center in Cambridge. In 2008 she moved in with her youngest son, Halver and later moved to Isle to live with her son, Stormy. Charlotte passed away at home with family on Monday, July 22, 2013. She enjoyed spending time with her family, gardening, rock picking, sewing, crocheting and taking trips to the casino among many other things.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Romaine; father, Charles Schultz; step-father, Thomas Richardson; brother, Kenneth Schultz; sister, Gloria Magnuson, brother, Phillip Schultz and grandson Stormy Halverson, Jr.
She is survived by her mom, Darleen Richardson of Anoka; sons, George (Samantha) of Isle, Stormy (Tracey) of Mora, Halver (Stephanie) of Isle; sisters, Barbra Brown of Anoka, Kathy (Brian) Holmstrom of Champlin; 11 grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Memorial services were held Sunday, July 28, 2013 at Strike Funeral Home – Isanti Chapel with Rich Patrow officiating. The vocalists were The Abrahamson Sisters, and Jackie Shaefer served as pianist. Honorary pallbearers were Brian Brown, Jonathan Halverson, Josh Holmstrom, Charlie and Randy Magnuson, and Crystal Schultz. Interment will be in Fort Snelling National Cemetery.
