Edythe   J.  Engquist Anderson

Edythe Josephine Engquist Anderson, age 97, of Haven House in Cambridge, MN, formerly of Isanti and Tucson, AZ, died on Sunday, March 1, 2015 at 4:30 p.m. surrounded by most of her family after a battle with cancer.
Edythe was preceded in death by her husband, Einar; parents, Chester Charles and Hilda Marie (Rask) Engquist; siblings, Charles Leonard, Ralph Clinton, two infant sisters, Ruth Evelyn and Ella Elvera Marie Engquist, Judith Elaine Engquist Strike and Ruth Evelyn Anderson Carlson.
She is survived by her children, Marietta Ann (Glenn) Larson of Isanti, Adrian Arlee (LaVonne) Anderson of Anoka, George Einar (Sue) Anderson of Tucson, James Howard (Marie) Anderson of Anoka, Michael Chester (Tracey) of Princeton, Catherine Jo (John) Strand of White Bear Lake, Phillip Claire (Sandy) of Isanti; 16 grandchildren; great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews, and numerous friends.
Edythe was baptized at Elim Baptist Church in Isanti about 1931. She graduated from Cambridge High School in 1936 and was married to Einar Anderson on October 30, 1937. She worked at Memorial Hospital as a nurse’s aide and did in-home nursing care in Tucson. She was active in her church and community; church nursery, GMG and a leader in the 4H club. She volunteered at Grandview Christian Home and Shalom Thrift Store. Edythe loved her flower gardens and house plants, crocheted many afghans, pot holders and even made stuffed hippopotamus toys for her grandchildren for Christmas one year.
Services honoring Edythe’s life held 11 a.m. Friday, March 6, 2015 at Elim Baptist Church in Isanti. Visitation 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, March 5th at Strike Funeral Home – Isanti Chapel and also one hour prior to the service on Friday at the church. Interment in Isanti Union Cemetery.
