Child of God

Charles C. “Chuck” Hirt was born on November 30, 1947, and raised in Isanti, Minnesota. He met his wife, Kristen, just before their senior year at Cambridge High school.
Chuck joined the United States Air Force in 1965, and went to Texas for basic training and technical school, where he was distinguished by being appointed flight leader and then squadron leader. Chuck was given the highest security clearance and sent, accompanied by wife Kristen, to South Ruislip Air Force Base on the outskirts of London, England, to maintain and repair their most secure communications equipment.
Upon leaving the Air Force and returning to Minnesota, Chuck returned to school and worked in various part-time jobs. He eventually found his way into the automotive industry, where he remained for over thirty years as a salesman at Luther Toyota City/Brookdale Toyota.
During that time, Chuck found his true passion for helping people find their way out of the bondage of addiction through the saving grace of Jesus Christ. He became a licensed Christian counselor, and served as a member and then for several years as President of the Board of Directors of MetroHope Recovery Ministries. He took great joy in counseling, mentoring and supporting many people in all areas of his life, and spoke at numerous church services and events about what the Lord had done in his life. He loved his church family at Trinity Lutheran of Minnehaha Falls, and was also very active there.
Chuck was known for his love of Jesus, his caring for others, his sense of fun, and his larger-than-life personality. He had a gift for making people feel special and included, and it was impossible to be very serious when Chuck was around (except on the golf course!).
Chuck was taken home to glory on Friday, February 5th, after a 2-year struggle with cancer. Up to shortly before his passing, he was joyful and loving to all around him, and looking forward to everlasting life with Jesus.
He is survived by wife Kristen, daughter and son-in-law Kara and Bren Andrews, granddaughters Aubrie and soon-to-be-born baby Andrews, and sister-in-law Melody Pauling, all of Minneapolis, many other dear out-of-state relatives, and numerous friends.
A Memorial Celebration will be held at Trinity Lutheran of Minnehaha Falls, 5212 41st Avenue South, Minneapolis, 55417, on Thursday, February 11th, at 5 p.m. with a light supper reception following the service. We suggest any memorial donations you may wish to make be designated for MetroHope Recovery Ministries or Trinity Lutheran Church of Minnehaha Falls and sent to the church office.
We are so proud of our Chuck, and look forward to all being together in Heaven.
