
Gary Dale Anderson, age 79 of Cambridge, MN died and went to be with the Lord on March 31, 2016 at home after a lengthy illness.
He was born on October 29, 1936 in Minneapolis to Fred and Mabel Anderson. He attended school and graduated from St. Louis Park High School.
He was united in marriage to Dorothy Fodness on January 30, 1960 in Dell Rapids, SD. Gary attended Brown College, receiving a degree in Electronic Technology.
Gary served two years in the U.S. Army and was honorably discharged. He was employed by Honeywell for 32 years; while there he earned one patent. He retired in 1991 at the age of 55.
He enjoyed reading, playing cards, cribbage, chess, solving code words, fishing, and hunting. He also enjoyed woodworking (where he made many items for the home, including the remodeling of their home), mowing the grass and puttering around their hobby farm in Rush Point, MN with the families special Golden Retriever dogs (Copper, Chance and Fred), and he also enjoyed raising beef cattle. He loved watching the birds and the wildlife that visited over the years.
Gary and Dorothy lived in Coon Rapids, MN for nine years and then moved to their Rush Point farm in 1969 where they lived for 46 years. In the fall of 2015, they moved to their present home in Cambridge, MN.
Gary was a member of Calvary Evangelical Lutheran Church of Rush Point, MN, and of Leisure Club. He was skilled at fixing and repairing everything, basically a jack of all trades.
He is survived by his loving spouse of 56 years, Dorothy; children, Lisa Schluck of Bloomington, MN, Beth Anderson of Esko, MN and Sara Anderson of Cambridge, MN; grandchildren, Erin Norris, Colin Schluck, Alison Schluck (Matt Grand), Kyle Schluck, Samia Anderson and Keone Anderson; great-grandchildren, Nola Norris, Dottie Norris and Summer Grand; sister Joan (David) Nordquist of Kansas; niece Mary White; nephew Steven Nordquist; many cousins, other relatives and special friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents.
